About
The Prairie Peddler is solely owned by Cindy Rogers (June 2010). Originally a concept of Cindy Rogers and Bridget Larson, they opened this charming shop on September 9, 1989.
First in a much smaller facility (in a small building west of the Albertson’s store) they carried gourmet coffee beans, packaged foods, candies (including jelly bellies) and home decorative items. They moved onto Main Street in 1993, added an espresso/fountain bar, and became the first shop in town to offer espresso. Not willing to settle for the status quo, they searched for those unusual items, not seen everywhere else.
Travelers who frequent the shop continually comment that they are so surprised to find this kind of store in Montana, much less in a small town such as Shelby. From the first moment that visitors enter, they are aware that they feel better walking out than they did when walking in, as the shop excites all five senses. The atmosphere of the store is both welcoming and comfortable.
And it’s a great place to meet up with old friends or make new ones. Come in for our daily latte special, a pick-me-up or a gift. Browse the rooms. There’s treasure to be found in every nook and cranny!
